Moving internationally is HARD. At least that’s what we’ve discovered as we’ve progressed through this process. New Zealand, especially, has quite tight restrictions on who they let in and who they don’t. It seems the two things they are protecting most are the economy and their healthcare system (which comes back down to economy). Watch for the application portion of the video (you’ll know when you see it – it’s nuts!)
What Goes Into a Move Across the World? from Kate Cremisino on Vimeo.

Sometime in late December/early January, we were sharing our vision for New Zealand with friends, Greg + Jannelle Althoff. Immediately Greg responded with interest. A few weeks later, we felt God confirm it was time for Noah and I to start the process. The dream was really happening… now. We would be moving one year from then, January 2010. Over the next several months, the Althoff family prayed + planned, eventually feeling they may be being called to Christchurch as well. We all spent time hashing out ideas + making steps toward the big move down under. We took weekend retreats to get away + pray + talk together.

In order to stay in New Zealand, we need to apply for a visa. We applied for a Work Visa, as we will be partnering with YWAM Oxford, out of Christchurch. The entire application process is expensive + time consuming, but we finally wrapped it up + sent it off!

In June, we moved from 12th Ave., Denver to Acoma St., Littleton. This was our first major step toward saving money for the BIG MOVE to NEW ZEALAND. Sharing a house with friends, BJ and Christi, we are able to save a chunk on rent. During the move, + for the several months following, we diligently worked on pairing down our belongings. We made several trips to Goodwill, held a plethora of yard sales, utelized craigslist + are ending with the final push: our Nov 28 Auction + Open House Sale. Please come! Here are snapshots of the process over the last several months. Thanks to the friends who came out to our Denver house to help clean it out on our last day!
