Missional Community Planting
We feel called to help coach others in pioneering simple and missional church expressions. God has put a burden on our hearts to help release others to BE the church in a natural way —where people can be discipled, reach the community, and creatively use and grow in their talents. We’ve been networking with local house churches in the city, helped initiate a national gathering of house church leaders in 2011, and participate in city-wide home church events such as worship, prayer and teaching nights. Youth With A Mission
Our involvement with YWAM Oxford is multifaceted. We currently live in their Christchurch house which we are running as a hospitality house for incoming YWAM teams, individuals and families in need. Noah has been restructuring the base website and keeping it updated, while Kate has been serving as a coordinator for earthquake relief efforts. We pioneered a new ministry that is still in the works. It’s a photojournalistic outreach ministry focusing on capturing the stories of locals. Read More…
Volunteering
We are both involved in various volunteering efforts in the city. Noah has been offering his construction skills toward fixing up an outreach center in a low-income area of town and will be helping run a graphic design class once the place is up and running. Kate has volunteered as a tutor through English Language Partners NZ, has helped out at the English Language School at Spreydon Baptist Church, and has also put time into tutoring a Nepali neighbor in English. Throughout the 2011 school year, she gave time to a local primary school. Since the earthquakes we have both been involved in various relief efforts from working at a food distribution center, shoveling liquefaction, helping people move, cleaning out homes, coordinating outreaches for mission teams and donating relief funds from their supporters to locals in need. She has been spearheading wearechch.co.nz and also offers her writing skills to various NZ websites and publications (outside of other hired work).
